How To Give

Giving to and through The Fayetteville Community Foundation is one of the easiest ways you can be philanthropic and support your community. The foundation allows you to establish a permanent fund that you oversee within the larger foundation. FCF is a tax-exempt, public charity managed by professionals that evaluate and assess emerging community needs and try to find donors that want to support and fulfill those needs.

The first step in establishing a fund with the Fayetteville Community Foundation is to review the chart below. Assess your interests and review the benefits of each fund.

I'd like to...	Options	Benefits
Get a tax deduction now, but focus on making gifts later.	Donor Advised Fund	Donors make one gift initially and begin to distribute grants when they identify needs.
Make a gift that will focus on a particular cause or area (for example arts or wildlife).	Field of Interest Fund	Donors choose from a variety of trusts that direct funding to a particular field.
Support a specific philanthropy.	Designated Funds	If in the future, your nonprofit is not in existence, the Board of FCF can redirect your funds.
Establish an endowed fund to meet the needs of my nonprofit agency.	Agency Funds	Allow the nonprofit to focus on their work and provides a contant source of income.
Offer students money to continue their education.	Scholarship Funds	Staff will handle the paperwork and screening process if needed.
Help with the most urgent needs of the community.	Community Funds	Board of Directors oversees and distributes funds as needs arise.

The staff of the foundation is extremely knowledgeable and the services that we offer maximize not only your time but also your charitable dollars. Our services include:

• Handling all aspects of fund administration. You get the joy of giving while we do the paperwork, check writing, and provide you with one tax receipt to cover all of your charitable giving.
• Providing flexibility for donors through our many fund types. You can name a fund, advise a fund if so desired, or designate an area of interest or specific charity to benefit.
• Knowledge about community needs. You get help answering, "How can I make difference?"
• Sound financial stewardship and management of assets. We provide board governance and a professional staff to watch over your gift and ensure its impact.
• Public relations support. Sending press releases regarding new funds, grants made, etc.
• Helping donors build a permanent legacy through planned giving. Our staff is available to help explore planned giving options and building a permanent philanthropic legacy.
• Confidentiality. All consultations with FCF are kept confidential. Once a fund is established, you may continue to have anonymity upon request.
